Privacy Policy
Effective July 15, 2026
GoGritter LLC ("GoGritter," "we," "us") operates a website and platform that gives kids running neighborhood service businesses (like lawn mowing or dog walking) a profile and booking page, set up and supervised by a parent or legal guardian. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices parents have about it.
GoGritter is built for parents to use on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child without a parent or guardian creating and controlling the account. If you're a parent or guardian, this policy tells you exactly what we collect about your family and how to control it. If you're a customer browsing or booking a job, the sections on "Information We Collect" and "How We Share Information" apply to you too.
Information We Collect
From the parent or guardian
When a parent creates an account, we collect their name, email address, and a password (stored securely and never visible to us in plain text). A phone number may be collected if provided. This information is used to create and secure the account, communicate with the parent, and confirm they're the one managing their child's profile.
About the kid (entered by the parent, not the kid)
A parent enters their child's first name and last initial only — never a full legal name, school, exact address, or birthdate. They also enter the services their child offers and an optional tagline. This is the information shown on the child's public profile page — no service area or location information is shown publicly at all.
A parent can set a precise service area — either by drawing a boundary on a map or setting a radius — used only on our backend to check whether a customer's address falls within range. This is never shown publicly and is never rendered on any public-facing map.
From customers
Someone booking a job provides their name, address, phone number, and job details (service requested, date/time, notes). Their exact address is used only to route the request to the right kid's parent and is never shown to the public.
Parent verification
Before a child's profile can go live, the parent must complete a separate identity/adult-verification step through Kids Web Services (KWS), a verification provider we use specifically to confirm the account holder is genuinely an adult. When a parent completes this step, KWS (and, for card-based verification, its payment processor, Stripe) collects and verifies whatever information their chosen verification method requires (for example, a payment card for a small, refunded verification charge). That information goes directly to KWS and its processors — GoGritter never receives or stores it. We only receive a simple confirmation that verification succeeded and a reference id for our own records. KWS's handling of that information is governed by KWS's own privacy policy, not this one.
Collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure providers automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and reliability purposes. We don't use this to build advertising profiles of children.
How We Use Information
- To create and secure parent accounts, and to link every child profile to a specific, verified parent — a child profile can never exist without one.
- To display a child's public profile (first name, last initial, tagline, services, general service area) so customers can find and book them.
- To route booking requests from customers to the right parent, and to check whether a customer's address falls within a family's set service area.
- To communicate with parents about their account, bookings, and safety-relevant activity.
- To confirm a parent's identity and adult status before any child profile is allowed to go live, through KWS.
- To keep the platform secure and prevent misuse.
We do not sell children's personal information, and we do not use it to serve targeted advertising to children.
How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run the platform, with providers who process it on our behalf:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and backend infrastructure provider.
- Kids Web Services (KWS) and Stripe — parent identity/adult verification, as described above.
- Mapbox — address search and mapping, used when a parent sets a service area.
- Netlify — website hosting.
- Twilio — text message delivery, where used for account or booking notifications.
A customer's exact address is shared only with the specific parent whose family they're booking with, never published or shared with other users. We don't sell personal information to third parties, and we don't share it for third-party advertising.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a child, family, or the public.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
GoGritter is designed around the requirement that every child profile be created and controlled by a parent or legal guardian, with verified consent, before it's allowed to go live. We collect only the limited information described above about a child, always entered by the parent — never directly solicited from the child themselves. A child's exact address, school, birthdate, and full legal name are never collected for public display.
If we ever learn that a child's profile was created without genuine parental knowledge and verified consent, we will suspend it and work with the parent to resolve it.
Parental Rights & Choices
A parent can, at any time:
- Review the information we hold about their account and their child's profile.
- Correct or update that information.
- Request that their child's profile, or their entire account, be deleted.
- Revoke consent for further collection of their child's information, which will take the child's profile offline.
- Block a specific customer from contacting their child, at any time, privately.
Parents can review, correct, delete, or revoke consent directly in their account on the website — these actions take effect immediately, with no waiting on a request. If you'd rather reach us directly, or run into any trouble, email support@GoGritter.com.
Data Retention
We keep account and profile information for as long as the account is active. If an account or child profile is deleted, we remove it from active use; some records may be retained briefly where needed for security, dispute resolution, or legal obligations, and then deleted.
Data Security
Access to family and child data is restricted at the database level so that only a linked, authenticated parent can read or modify their own family's records — this is enforced structurally, not just by application code. We use industry-standard practices to protect data in transit and at rest, but no system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where the changes affect how we collect or use a child's information, notify parents directly before the changes take effect.
